Camps are taught in small, informal groups by Museum staff and professional visiting artists. These are five-day camps for ages 5-9 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and ages 10-14 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with cost $125 per child. There will be an exhibition reception for friends and family of the students’ creations on the final day of camp starting one hour before the close of camp. Ages 5-9: The students will be making 3-D faces with air dried clay. One a self-portrait, and one a portrait of a pet on 4×4 tiles. These will be stained with raw sienna on the final day. Students will continue the face theme with an abstract mask of colorful papers to form a collage. The final project will be a fanciful bright bird painting with patterns on an 8” x 10” panel. Ages 10-14: The students will be also making self-portrait tiles and pet tiles. An acrylic painting on an 11” x 14” canvas of a rainbow zebra will be made in a loose style. A colorful owl will be painted with zen tangle designs.
