The Wall that Heals, a replica of the National Vietnam Monument is coming to Bedford County this July, with a series of special ceremonies, events and remembrances:

July 21 – Escort: The Wall will be escorted by motorcycle groups, fire companies and police. The Escort begins at 4:00 p.m. at the East St. Clair Township Building 1445 Quaker Valley Rd, New Paris, PA 15554 and ends at the Bedford Middle School 440 East Watson Street Bedford, PA 15522. It will travel along route 56, turn left onto route 96 proceed through New Paris, turn left onto route 30 in Schellsburg, and then proceed into Bedford.

July 22nd – Set-Up: volunteers will spend the full day setting up The Wall That Heals, with the unique opportunity to touch each piece, read the names, and reflect on their stories. If you would like to help, please contact Commissioner Josh Lang for more information.

July 23-26 – The Wall that Heals will be available around the clock for view (until 2pm on July 26), along with the Mobile Education Center. Volunteer opportunities are available. Trained staff from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund will be on-site to provide free educational tours of the exhibits. 

July 25 – Honors Ceremony – 10am – including remarks from local Vietnam Veteran/Author Larry Garlock and others.
