After eight months of thoughtful research, including more than 100 interviews with Chamber members and community stakeholders, the Bedford County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors adopted a new five-year strategic plan, setting the course for the organization.
The plan, facilitated in partnership with Dr. Allen Sell, was derived from a process of Appreciative Inquiry; the report is designed to be a living breathing document, to evolve over the five-year term as strategies are put into action.
Among the organization’s priorities was to adopt a formal diversity statement, derived from the Chamber’s longtime mission and values statements, as well as other resources, with an understanding of the organization’s leadership role in the community. The Chamber recognizes a responsibility to pursue these values by utilizing the identity and strengths of the organization education, networking and relationship-building.
The Bedford County Chamber of Commerce celebrates diversity, champions equity and cultivates inclusion as fundamental to supporting a vibrant economy and promoting the continual improvement of the business climate of the Bedford County region.
Diversity is a valued strength of a vibrant society, driving the creativity and innovation which feed a dynamic economy.
We believe that when organizations and communities recognize and embrace different perspectives, we are better able to create value, solve problems, serve customers, and support workforce. By providing opportunities for everyone, businesses help lift communities and strengthen the health, prosperity, and competitiveness of our community.
These values are demonstrated through our practices, policies, programs, initiatives, and community engagement; and we support our members and partners as they do the same.
