Joining the list of locales that offer truly unique shopping experiences, Bedford County’s retail choices continue to grow. Unlike many areas, we are not home to a mall or many shopping centers.
What makes Bedford County different is the type, location and quality of our shops. The downtowns of our two largest communities, Bedford and Everett, are real and vibrant retail districts, complete with hardware stores, diners, offices and lots of shops.
Local residents walk from place to place to complete their errands and talk with their neighbors. Visitors enjoy exploring the area and often remark about the variety and exceptional selection offered.
Proactively preparing for the increase in business from the Bedford Springs, many retailers began making improvements several years ago. Today, the cumulative effect of their efforts is obvious.
Well painted store fronts have spread a coat of vitality through our community that even the economic climate can’t dampen.
In addition to Bedford and Everett, mos of the county’s shopping areas are spread along Route 30, from Schellsburg’s quiet sidewalks to the bustle of Breezewood, you’ll find each of our communities have a unique feel.
In between these communities are some of the area’s best finds. The Jean Bonnet Tavern has a gift shop set up in a relocated log cabin, originally built in the late 1700’s. The back roads of Bedford County are home to wineries, handmade chocolates, antique shops and many others.
