The Fish Philosophy – “It’s Not a FISH Tale”

The “FISH” Philosophy of customer service is about a fish market where the energy is so infectious, business people spend their lunch hour just watching the action and absorbing the energy. The World Famous Pike Place Fish Market has not always been such a place. Years ago, the dreariness of long hours, smelly fish, and cold lockers was reflected in the workers’ attitudes. By changing the attitude they bring to their work, the fishmongers at Pike Place have created a totally different environment for customers, vendors, guests and fellow workers. Fish is old wisdom for each new day. It reminds us of what we often forget when we’re busy, stressed-out and self-absorbed. Fish behavior often starts with one person and attracts others. When a community of people commit to it together, the effect is powerful, creating a higher quality of life at work and home. It’s called “The FISH Philosophy”
