The Chamber is thinking spring, and planning for Bedford County’s signature celebration of spring: the 24th annual Home, Garden and Lifestyle Show: Saturday and Sunday, April 6th and 7th at the Bedford County Fairgrounds.

A wonderful combination of tried-and-true standards and new features, the 2019 HGL Show will offer something for everyone.

Guests will be welcomed to the show by our partner, Homewood at Spring House Estates, the region’s premier retirement community.  Executive Chef Tim Turner will offer Gourmet Grilling Demonstrations (Sat. 11am & 3pm / Sun. 11:30am.) Admission is FREE and guests can register for free daily door prize drawings.

And that’s just the beginning of the home improvement help to be found at the HGL Show.  Whether you’re looking to create a new outdoor living space, update your kitchen or bathroom, furnish your man cave, or almost any other project, the area’s experts will be under one roof, waiting to meet you.  Doing business locally means supporting neighborhood businesses, keeping important dollars in our own community.  Personalized customer service is another benefit of choosing local goods and services in a county where a handshake is still an important business tool, and where families proudly put their name and reputation on every job they do.

Thanks to Entertainment sponsors, State Farm agents of Bedford Matt Randall and Michael Meehan, live music by Coltt Winter Lepley will provide the soundtrack for the weekend’s activities.

In addition to dozens of indoor exhibits, with an array of home improvement help, Jordan Hall will be bursting with outdoor displays as well, including the Stoneham Motorsports UTV Show and Stihl Trailer, West Central Equipment John Deere Show, and Hines Equipment Cub Cadet Test Drive Experience.

The Children’s Corner, sponsored by Altoona First Savings Bank and ALSM Children’s Services will delight young show-goers with activities throughout the weekend, including a Lego Homebuilders’ Contest, Saturday 11am-2pm and Sunday 11:30am-2:30om.

The Friends of Shawnee Outdoor Experience will give young show-goers more activities to enjoy, highlighted by the a family friendly EGGstravaganza, presented by Real Life Church.

The Youth Leadership Bedford County Class of 2019 will hold a fundraiser during the show to benefit the Bedford County Humane Society, offering a dunk tank, face painting and other activities (donations accepted to benefit their class project.)

The Chamber is very proud to one again partner with the Bedford Speedway to give fans a preview of the 2019 race season. Sunday’s Stars and Their Cars Race Car Show will give the community a chance to meet and greet race car drivers and teams and get a look inside the cockpit of late model and sprint cars.  As the show closes, the roar of race engines will fill the speedway, as drivers take to the track for a Test and Tune practice (3pm.)

Food trucks will offer fair food from snacks and drinks to full meals throughout the weekend, and show goers can register for daily door prizes, including the grand prize: a Shawnee Structures 8’x12′ Shed!  Other featured prizes include a push lawn mower from Hines Equipment and a Barbecue Grill from First Peoples Community FCU.

Show Hours are Saturday, 9am-5pm and Sunday 11am-4pm.

Indoor Exhibit Space is Limited. Outdoor space is still available. Call the Chamber for more information at 814.623.2233 or email.
