The Bedford County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce our 2019 award honorees. These businesses, organizations and individuals will be recognized during our Annual Dinner & Awards Celebration – November 21st at the Bedford County Airport.
Seventeen awards will be presented to outstanding businesses, organizations and individuals of the Bedford County region, recognizing a variety of accomplishments, including: excellence in business (small, medium and large categories), community service, historical preservation, property improvement, agri-business, education and servant leadership, as well as the prestigious Athena Award, sponsored by Bedford BPW and Thomas Dealerships.
The Chamber partners with BCDA, the Bedford County Visitors Bureau and Bedford County Community Connections to present awards for economic development, excellence in tourism and a commitment to hiring people with disabilities.
“The Chamber’s Annual Dinner is the signature celebration of our diverse and outstanding business community,” said President/CEO Kellie Goodman Shaffer. “We look forward to honoring this year’s recipients as part of an evening of thanking our members and partners for all they do throughout the year.”
The theme of the evening will be Come Fly With Us, a nod to the music, style and glamour of air travel of the 1950’s-60’s. The evening will begin with a reception that will also include an extensive text-to-bid silent auction, sponsored by Stiffler-McGraw, showcasing Chamber member businesses. NEW in 2019, the auction will be extended through the Chamber’s Holiday Open House on December 12th, allowing greater exposure for the participating donors, and to allow for bidding by those who are not able to attend the banquet. (Look for details, coming soon on the Chamber website.)
Soaring Eagle Productions will provide audio-visual services, including the production of the pre-recorded acceptance speeches with lighting and special effects support from ENCORE.
“The video-taped format of the award program allows us to tell the stories of our honorees illustrated with photos of their accomplishments. Our business community should be very proud of all that has been achieved over the last year.”Kellie Goodman Shaffer, President-CEO, Bedford County Chamber
With the new venue for this year’s banquet, guests will be treated to a very special experience as the immaculate corporate hangar is transformed into a chic, fanciful banquet hall; expect some fun surprises throughout the evening. A delectable buffet is planned by the Casino at Snappy Chef, featuring multiple entrée and side choices with something for everyone. Everett Flower Shop will design the centerpieces and guests will enjoy whimsical favors from Bedford Candies. Attire for the evening is business-dress (but all are welcome to come-as-they-work.)
The 2019 awards and honorees are listed below. The Athena Award winner will remain a secret until the dinner program.
Sponsorships & registrations for the celebration are limited, so those wishing to attend should register as soon as possible; this event traditionally sells out. Cost to attend is $89 per person and registration is required.
Businesses are welcome to provide an item promoting their company for inclusion in the silent auction; program ads are also available to advertise businesses and/or congratulate the honorees. For more information, please call the Chamber office at 814-623-2233 or CLICK HERE.
